and this is us
mark and sarasara says: "mark is the one that talks telecoms - but you normally find him getting others connected, helping people, not just with telecoms, but freely giving advice and assistance, ensuring people don't get ripped off"
mark says: "sara ensures it all happens - not only does she wear many hats within our small business, she is also extremely crafty (in a good way) with many talents, especially silver jewellery

update: sophie has started college |
with a young a family commuting and long hours away from that family began to lose its appeal, the comfort and security of working for an employer no longer seemed enough, there was an urge within to do things differently
so in 2002 we set up our own business in the telecoms industry over the next 10 years, the company grew; employed staff, apprentices, expanded our offices and learnt a lot about business our successful business won various awards, we were really proud of the difference we were making to our customers and the local community. |
however, stress took its toll and Mark became ill with pancreatitis something had to change - we had to put our family first
so our old businesses were brought to a close - we found new homes for our customers and staff with companies that we previously worked with and this allowed a smooth transition to this new era and we still work together today |
now we wanted a business that would provide us a better work life balance
and so better telecoms was born our knowledge within telecoms, our wide range of contacts and also our relationships with suppliers means we offer our customers an independent view into telecoms unlike those that are constrained to sell a range of products based on what they have in stock at the time, we can make the right introductions for you, creating you a direct relationship with with a supplier that is a good fit for you and your particular requirements |
the importance of community
whilst business is important, so too is our community which is why we like to get involved, in fact this picture is from golcar lily day that we both help at
from when the business was started we always tried to have good ethics and had a strong approach to CSR before it was a buzzword with our original business partner we all agreed on donating 10% of income to good causes and over the years we were privileged to work with lots of great causes and over the 10 years we donated over £140,000 to charities and provided local groups and good causes with a further £25,000 of sponsorship these days as we are much more of a lifestyle business we do not have the same sort of resources to donate, but we carry on our CSR in different ways we volunteer for lots of groups and chartities and spend more time than we can normally afford helping our local community having been a school governor, a trustee to a charity, helps run free to attend business networking groups and though not a web designer Mark designs and manages some free websites for some local causes, Sara face paints for events for free, we both are on our local scouts committee, we provide three sound systems for local events and much more we believe firmly in “treat others like you want to be treated”, and “what goes around, comes around” |
